If you’re a supporter of the great red-and-white football club from Amsterdam, there’s a good chance that the coverage from well-known news sites like Voetbal International isn’t quite enough for you. Ajax’s major fan site Ajax1.nl has released its own news application for the iPhone and iPod touch, allowing you to quickly follow the latest news about the club. All rumours and player developments are examined in detail. Around this time of year, for example, you’ll find plenty of reports on potential new signings the club may be targeting for next season.
The Ajax1 news app is a straightforward app, with the news section being its main feature. On a red background, the latest headlines about the club are shown in white text. To the left of each headline is a small image, and below each headline you can see when the article was published and how many comments it has received. These comments are not shown automatically under the article but can be opened separately. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to leave a comment from within the app, and there’s no login option for members of the website.
However, you can share articles via Twitter and Facebook, and save them to read later. You’ll find these saved items in the 'My Articles' tab. You can also follow Twitter feeds from various Ajax sources and check the Eredivisie standings and upcoming fixtures.
