Now live: the Air Defense Serious Game
30.08.2022
Together with the ministry of Defense we developed the Air Defense (LGL) Serious Game. Play and protect the Dutch airspace.
A serious game to recruit and inform candidates.
There are relatively few applications for air combat leadership. And the applications that are out there often have a distorted view of the profession. Along with flying in a brand new F-35’s, is a whole lot more to defend the Dutch airspace. With the LGL Serious Game, the ministry of Defense aims to create a more realistic picture of the air combat management profession.
Co-creation with the ministry of Defense
To transform the unique challenges within air combat control into an informative game experience, we worked closely with the Defense team. This collaboration started with a walk-in day at the air base at the Air Operations Control Station.Together with recruiters and air combat leaders, we came up with a serious game in which the player himself can perform the various roles on the air base: from monitoring the airspace to intercepting suspicious aircraft.
The serious game gives a realistic picture of the various job roles that contribute to the safety of the Dutch airspace.
Through gamification, the player is entertained, informed and challenged to defend the airspace against potential dangers. Scores are determined based on two relevant competencies: information processing and attention span. Players who achieve the highest scores can apply to get in touch with the Defense Department.

The Department of Defense and DTT: Doing Things Together
After the Royal Navy Days app, the LGL Serious Game is the second solution we are launching with the Ministry of Defense in 2022. We look forward to continuing our successful collaboration.
