MediaMasters in the Jeugdjournaal
09.11.2022
It's that time again: the Week of Media Literacy has officially started. From November 3 through November 11, thousands of elementary school classes in the Netherlands will compete for the title "Most Media Wise Class of the Netherlands. The Week of Media Literacy is off to a good start, last year's record numbers have already been broken and MediaMasters was put in the spotlight by Jeugdjournaal (news for the youth).
Doing Things Together, also in 2022
The MediaMasters team and the DTT team worked fruitfully together again this year to roll out the 2022 edition of MediaMasters for Media Literacy Week. Since Nov. 3, thousands of elementary school classes have been competing with each other by playing media missions. In this way, students nationwide are gaining knowledge about important issues such as social media, privacy and artificial intelligence. The class that collects the most points this week is declared the most media savvy class in the Netherlands.
As seen in Jeugdjournaal
On November 4, MediaMasters was featured in the evening edition of Jeugdjournaal. The Jeugdjournaal visited elementary school de Horizon (in Harmelen) and spoke with teachers and pupils about MediaMasters. The students talk about their own experiences with 'hate on the Internet' and vote on the proposition: 'That people are mean to each other online is just part of it.'
The "poll functionality" is new in the 2022 edition. The first results were already highlighted in Jeugdjournaal.
The clip can be seen here on the website of Jeugdjournaal (the segment on MediaMasters starts at 11:22).
Already new records
The 2021 edition of MediaMasters - which broke records with 160,000 students - was positively rated by teachers with a report grade of 8,3. A proud mark, especially for last year's totally revamped solution. In this year's edition, we have incorporated teachers' feedback from various evaluations, making MediaMasters even more in tune with the needs of the teachers and students playing in 2022.
The 2022 edition got off to a flying start, breaking last year's records on the first day. As many as 8,000+ classes and 180,000+ students registered for MediaMasters this year. As icing on the cake, we received a delicious cake from the MediaMasters team. We are greatly looking forward to a successful Week of Media Literacy together with MediaMasters!
